9th Annual Louisiana Parkinson's Conference: Register Now

BATON ROUGE -- The 9th Annual Louisiana Parkinson’s Conference will take place virtually on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m via Zoom. According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, nearly one million people in the U.S. are living with Parkinson’s disease, and this annual event brings participants from across the country to learn, share, and connect regarding the latest research and strategies surrounding this disease.
“The heart of this event is helping people with Parkinson’s learn how to not only live with this disease, but thrive,” says Jan Hondzinski, PhD and Professor at the LSU School of Kinesiology. “It provides a way to educate them on wellness solutions and ensure we’re giving this community the tools to succeed, while also allowing researchers and clinicians the opportunity to learn from each other and collaborate.”
Of special note for this year’s event is a new gift by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation on behalf of the late Percy Joseph (P.J.) Mills, Jr., former president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and lifelong public servant and community activist. This gift names the Parkinson’s Conference Keynote Address for Mr. Mills, who passed away January 16, 2021 from complications associated with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
This year’s P.J. Mills Keynote Address, It Doesn’t Matter If We Look Funny -- Let’s Get Out and Go!, will be presented by Linda K. Olson, a triple amputee who is committed to empowering fellow Parkinson’s patients and their families to live life as fully as possible.
Experts from across the country will also speak on topics such as genetic mapping, sleep, dance and movement, current research, and strategies for living with Parkinson’s disease.
