Dr. Shawndaya Thrasher Receives Rising Star Award

Dr. Shawndaya Thrasher accepts inaugural Rising Star Award from the University of Kentucky
Dr. Shawndaya Thrasher, LSU School of Social Work Assistant Professor, was selected for the inaugural Rising Star in Social Work Award from the University of Kentucky College of Social Work. This award recognizes recent graduates of the college who are already making exceptional contributions to social work and who personify the principles and values of the profession.
The award was presented at the Social Work Alumni Association (SWAA) 1st Annual Recognition Event awards banquet on September 28, 2023, at the Carrick House in Lexington, KY. The SWAA awards are the highest honors bestowed by the UK College of Social Work for alumni and other supporters of the college.
Dr. Thrasher's research addresses issues in bullying, victimization, and violence. She currently teaches Research Methods and Statistics. She has been an Assistant Professor with LSU School of Social Work since 2021.
