LSU to Host Radio Personality JR Jackson for his "Media for the Movement" Tour

Sports Media expert, JR Jackson, will speak to students on developing a career in media, the importance of diversity and inclusion in the changing media landscape and more.

November 4, 2021

BATON ROUGE — On November 15, 2021, LSU will host radio personality JR Jackson as part of his “Media for the Movement” tour. Taking place at the Holliday Forum within the LSU Journalism Building, Jackson will present two interactive lectures on developing a career in sports media, the changing landscape of media, and the impact of inclusion and equality in journalism, sports and reporting.

“I'm always asked by students and entrepreneurs about how I started the JR SportBrief® show on YouTube with millions of views and then transitioned to television and now have my own show on CBS Sports Radio," states Jackson. "I love sharing what I've learned about sports media... and [this] is an excellent way for me to give back, while also encouraging diversity and inclusion along the way.”

In partnership with the Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® (SOUCS), the “Media for the Movement” program is a twenty-two-college tour where Jackson will not only share his business expertise, but also interview local professional and Special Olympic athletes.

Host of the JR SportBrief®, Jackson began his career with a YouTube channel that due to its immense popularity was later picked up by CBS Sports. His show now airs weeknights on over 300 CBS Sports stations across the nation. While visiting LSU, Jackson will host a live broadcast of the JR SportBrief® Show from a location on campus.

This event is hosted by the LSU Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication, the LSU College of Human Sciences & Education, and the LSU Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College.
