- Saving the Mississippi DeltaLouisiana State University sedimentary geologist Dr. Samuel Bentley has secured a $3.8 million grant to co-lead a 15-member consortium known as The Mississippi River Delta Transition Initiative. Dubbed MissDelta, the $22 million project will actively study underwater mudslides threatening energy infrastructure. Its primary objectives include predicting the future of the Mississippi Delta, addressing socio-economic concerns, fostering workforce diversity, and tackling environmental challenges in the region for the next century.
