🤖 LSU's Thanos Gentimis Discusses the Future of AI for Agriculture and Farming

President William F. Tate IV speaks to LSU assistant professor in experimental statistics, Thanos Gentimis. He discusses his field of expertise, which is data analytics with a special interest in machine learning and neural networks. Thanos created the first digital agriculture class at LSU and discusses how AI will soon shape the world of agriculture and farming. Thanos is married to Maria Bampasidou, Ph.D., who is also a professor in the LSU Department of Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness. Thanos Gentimis is an assistant professor in experimental statistics at LSU. He created the first digital agriculture class at LSU and has a special interest in machine learning and neural networks. Thanos received his Ph.D. in theoretical mathematics (algebraic topology) from the University of Florida in 2011. His dissertation was titled: “Properties of Groups at Infinity”. He earned his master’s degree in theoretical mathematics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, where he also received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Education.
