Meng says the new SDCS will encourage synergistic research between multiple groups across campus working on intelligent transportation, including those in electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and construction management.

- LSU Civil Engineering Researchers Publish Paper on CAV Impact on Road NetworksAugust 7, 2024BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU Civil Engineering researchers have examined the effects of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) on traffic operation and safety at full-cloverleaf interchanges. What they've found is that the more CAVs present on this type of interchange, the greater the reduction in travel time, improved traffic flow, and enhanced safety.

The distinction recognizes individuals for "lifetime service to mechanical engineering research and education, particularly through technical books, and trendsetting research papers."
- LSU Mechanical Engineering Professor Seeks to Better Understand Fuel Droplet Dynamics in Propulsion SystemsJuly 8, 2024BATON ROUGE, LA - LSU Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor Shyam Menon is part of a collaborative project with Missouri University of Science & Technology (MST) that will develop strategies to facilitate a better understanding of the physics of high-speed propulsion systems. Such systems have application in the defense sector and civilian sector, including supersonic commercial transport and commercial rocketry for space access.

The $30,000 grant was awarded by the Louisiana Transportation Research Center. LSU ME Assistant Professor Corina Barbalata is working with Palardy on the project.
