April 11, 2024
BATON ROUGE—The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters (LAB) recognized LSU Manship School of Mass Communication junior Patricia Caputo, a Tiger TV sports reporter and co-host of The Purple Room podcast, with the LAB Broadcast Scholarship at the 2024 LAB Prestige Awards. Caputo was one of two students in the state to earn the $4,000 scholarship.
“I am extremely honored to be a recipient of the 2024 Louisiana Association of Broadcasters scholarship,” Caputo said. “At the LAB Prestige Awards ceremony, I also had the opportunity to network with experienced professionals in radio and television. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity, and I am excited for what the future holds, as I continue to make strides in the broadcast industry.”
Caputo, a New Jersey native, is pursuing a mass communication major with a concentration in journalism and a minor in sports studies. Prior to her role as a Tiger TV sports reporter, she worked as KLSU’s sports director. In that role, she organized, scheduled and hosted a weekly one-hour live sports talk show and podcast. Caputo also covered LSU Football in the 2022 SEC Championship Game, as well as the 2023 NCAA Women’s Final Four and National Championship Game. In 2023, Caputo’s interview with LSU tennis player Safiya Carrington for KLSU earned her recognition from the Arkansas Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists Diamond Student Awards.
The annual LAB Prestige Awards Ceremony recognizes outstanding achievements by Louisiana radio and television broadcasters. The competition was established to encourage the highest standards of reporting, community service and production creativity.
