- LSU's Presence Felt at AAACE Virtual ConferenceThe American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) hosted its annual conference October 27-30, 2020. Chairing the first virtual hosting of the conference, Associate Professor in the School of Leadership and Human Resource Development (SLHRD) and Director of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development in the College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE), Dr. Petra A. Robinson's goal was to create a space for participants to engage in cutting-edge scholarship and learn about best practices in the field. Additionally, she focused on providing unique networking opportunities to reconnect and recommit to the advancement of the field.
- LHRD Students and Faculty Attend the 2020 AHRD Conference in Atlanta, GeorgiaThe LSU School of Leadership & Human Resource Development had a strong presence at the 27th Annual AHRD Conference in the Americas in Atlanta, Georgia, from February 26-29, 2020, presenting refereed posters, a focus session talk, and refereed manuscripts.
- Developing Leaders - Damon PlogerBATON ROUGE - LSU believes that the foundation of the student experience should be rooted in a curriculum that embodies the values of the university--not just through traditional classes, but also through the synthesis of traditional teaching, co-curricular experiences, and experiential learning opportunities. The College of Human Sciences & Education and the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development continues to enhance efforts to recruit high-quality students and support them during their time at the university. One of those students is 2019 MS, Leadership & Human Resource Development Graduate Damon Ploger.
- In the Classroom & On the Court - CHSE Senior Sydney Mukes Exemplifies All Things LeadershipBATON ROUGE - Although spring 2020 graduates are not able to participate in a traditional ceremony, they are finding new ways to celebrate accomplishments and working toward new goals for the future. Sydney Mukes is a graduate who flourished in the classroom and across LSU's campus. Mukes studied in the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development (LHRD) with a minor in Psychology. She also played as an outside hitter for the LSU Volleyball team.
- Doctoral Candidate Susan Karimiha Speaks at The 2019 World Food Prize Borlaug DialogueLSU School of Leadership and Human Resource Development doctoral candidate, Susan Karimiha, recently spoke on a panel about agriculture as peacebuilding in post-conflict settings in Latin America as part of the 2019 World Food Prize Borlaug Dialogue in Des Moines, Iowa. The panel was co-hosted by the Association for International Agriculture and Rural Development (AIARD) and the International Agriculture Section of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU).
- I'm a Changemaker - Beverly Brooks-ThompsonThe School of Leadership and Human Resource Development would like to celebrate LSU Alumni, Beverly Brooks-Thompson, as part of our Changemaker series! Beverly calls the city of Houston, TX home, but spent much of her life in Baton Rouge. She graduated from LSU with her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Ph.D. all in Leadership and Human Resource Development. Geaux Beverly! She chose to remain at LSU for her graduate degree because of the long term educational investment and opportunities for professional development offered by the institution. The LHRD program felt like an easy choice for Beverly because it offered the flexibility that other programs did not, without sacrificing the rigor or prestige she desired.
- SLHRD Faculty Attends HRD ConferenceLouisville, Kentucky - Several School of Leadership & Human Resource Development faculty members, including Drs. Oliver Crocco, Shinhee Jeong, and Sunyoung Park, and graduate students, including Matthew Kingham and Susan Karimiha, attended the 26th Annual AHRD Conference in Louisville, Kentucky this past February.
- Geaux Lead - A Student Feature: Jaron BertrandBaton Rouge - This week, the LSU School of Leadership and Human Resource Development would like to celebrate Jaron Bertrand for our Geaux Lead student spotlight! Jaron is a senior at LSU working on her B.S. in Leadership and Human Resource Development. She is originally from Patterson, LA, and always dreamed of being an LSU Tiger. After attending her first HR class, Jaron realized how much the material challenged her thinking and decided that LHRD was for her. The education she has gained in LHRD has lead Bertrand to become both impactful and globally engaged.
- AHRD Presents Cutting Edge Award to Dr. Shinhee JeongLouisville, Kentucky-Dr. Shinhee Jeong has been named a winner of the Cutting Edge Award of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), for her work on the paper titled, "The Multi-Level Effects of HR Practices and Paternalistic Leadership on Organizational Commitment," written with collaborators Dr. Dae Seok Chai from Colorado State University and Baek-kyoo Joo of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
- Dr. Park Presented with Early Career Scholar AwardLouisville, Kentucky - Dr. Sunyoung Park has been named a winner of the Early Career Scholar Award of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), honoring an outstanding HRD scholar in the early stages of his/her career who has made identifiable and significant contributions in scholarly research to the field of HRD. AHRD presented the award to Dr. Sunyoung Park at the 26th Annual AHRD Conference in the Americas keynote session on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
