BATON ROUGE--Louisiana high school students will compete in student media contests and participate in the state's annual scholastic media conference hosted by the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication's Louisiana Scholastic Press Association (LSPA) on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 8 a.m., at the LSU Student Union.

BATON ROUGE--LSU Professor Tina M. Harris, Ph.D., will explore the power of interracial communication to break down forms of systemic oppression at a book talk and signing on Feb. 6, at 3 p.m. CT at LSU Journalism Building's Holliday Forum. The event--"Dismantling Racism, One Relationship at a Time," the book's namesake--is hosted by the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication.

BATON ROUGE--The Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication has selected its third cohort of grantees for the community building program, "The Community Collaborative: By the Community, For the Community."

BATON ROUGE--The LSU Cold Case Project, LSU Storytellers Lab and LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication will host a listening event for a new podcast series, "Bitter Jaguar: The Shooting of Denver Smith and Leonard Brown," on Friday, December 1, at 5:30 p.m., in the Boyce Gallery located in Julian T. BATON ROUGE--The Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication will hold a film screening of the documentary "Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution" and a panel discussion featuring co-director and co-producer, Jim LeBrecht, at Louisiana State University on Oct. 25, 2023.

BATON ROUGE-- Join the LSU Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs for a presentation of "How to Win the War on Truth: An Illustrated Guide to How Mistruths Are Sold, Why They Stick, and How to Reclaim Reality," featuring author and Manship School alumnus Samuel C. Spitale. This event will take place on Oct. 19, 2023, at 4 p.m. C.T. in the Holliday Forum of the LSU Journalism Building.

BATON ROUGE--Leading sports media professionals and scholars will convene at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication's Sports Summit to explore trends, challenges and innovations in the sports media industry on Thursday, Oct. 12. The daylong summit will feature panels on NIL, mobile gaming, sports journalism and social media, Olympic impact and connectivity, and more.

BATON ROUGE--The Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication will host "The Hubert Humphrey Legacy: A Conversation Between Robert Mann and Samuel Freedman." This event will take place on Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. CT. in the Holliday Forum of the LSU Journalism Building.

BATON ROUGE--The Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication and partners will host the first installment of season seven of the "Racism: Dismantling the System" series. The new episode, "Equity at the Ballot Box: Discriminatory Obstacles to Voting," will take place Sept. 19, at 3:30 p.m. CT, via Zoom.

BATON ROUGE--The LSU Libraries Special Collections and the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication will host "Afternoon in the Archives: 'Kingfish U' with Bob Mann" on Sept. 13, at 3:30 p.m., at LSU's Hill Memorial Library. The event, a 360-degree experience, will submerge the audience into the relationship between Huey P. Long and Louisiana State University, as well as provide insight into author Bob Mann's research process for the book.

BATON ROUGE--John Maxwell Hamilton, professor of journalism at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication, has been named the 2023 recipient of the Sidney Kobre Award for Lifetime Achievement, the American Journalism Historians Association's (AJHA) highest honor.

BATON ROUGE--The Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication is partnering with McNeese State University to document Louisiana women's experiences as political leaders through oral histories.

BATON ROUGE--LSU Professor John Maxwell Hamilton has been awarded the Donald L. Shaw Senior Scholar Award by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication's (AEJMC) History Division. This award honors a scholar who has a demonstrated record of excellence in media history that has spanned at least 15 years, including division membership.

Winfield were recognized as University Faculty Award recipients by LSU Academic Affairs in spring 2023. Findings show most residents support legal abortion when the mother's life is in serious danger and in cases of rape, but opinion divides on other cases.
