- I'm a Changemaker - Kane HubbardBaton Rouge - For this week's Changemaker Spotlight, we feature Kane Hubbard, recent LSU Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Human Resource Development. Kane is originally from Rayne, Louisiana and is now working as an HR Analyst at CrescentCare, a federally qualified health center in New Orleans. Some of his responsibilities include providing support and maintenance for the Paycom system, conducting new hire orientation, advising and counseling employees and leaders, and conducting group and one-on-one leadership training.
- LHRD Welcomes New Faculty Member, Dr. Shinhee JeongBaton Rouge - Dr. Shinhee Jeong is the second of the three newest faculty members joining the School of Leadership and Human Resource Development (SLHRD). Dr. Jeong joined our School this past August after receiving her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in Human Resource Development.
- SLHRD Fellow Susan Karimiha Returns from HondurasThis summer, LSU School of Leadership & Human Resource Development PhD Candidate and Dr. Sunyoung Park's research assistant, Susan Karimiha, was a visiting Fellow at the National Agriculture University of Honduras. She was awarded the Fellowship by the National Agriculture University of Honduras (UNA) to develop human resource development and leadership research for rural farmers and conduct research related to the development of Honduras.
- I'm a Changemaker - Carmen EdwardsBaton Rouge - Carmen Edwards is a student of Louisiana State University, in the E.J Ourso College of Business, majoring in HR Management and minoring in Leadership Development. Even though she grew up in Florida, she was raised by a family full of LSU fans, and had always kept LSU in the back of her mind as a future option for her college career. When the nursing school in Florida she was attending didn't work out, the limitless possibilities LSU had to offer drew her in and she moved to Baton Rouge.

- Dr. Sunyoung Park Receives the 2018 Outstanding Paper AwardBaton Rouge - Dr. Sunyoung Park, Assistant Professor with the LSU School of Leadership and Human Resource Development, has received the 2018 Outstanding Paper Award for the article Intervention research and its influence on nonintervention research in human resource development published from the European Journal of Training and Development, as one of the Emerald Literati Awards.

- PhD Candidate, Dorothy Kemp, Awarded AAUW ScholarshipDorothy Kemp, a PhD candidate in SLHRD, was a recipient of the AAUW BR Branch's Eleanor Earle Memorial Scholarship. The $500 is awarded to two female students each year of who must be PhD student of LSU or SU.

Robinson Presents at the AABHE ConferenceFunded in part by the LSU Office of Diversity Faculty Travel Grant, School of Leadership and Human Resource Development faculty member Dr. Petra A. Robinson attended and presented her research at the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE) Conference.The conference is one Dr. Robinson has attended and presented research at consistently for the past 5 or so years. This year's conference was particularly meaningful as it was held in LSU's home state; at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel on Canal Street in New Orleans, LA. Additionally, the aptly themed conference theme Pathways to Success in Higher Education: Education, the Ultimate Civil Right was a resounding success under the leadership of its president, LSU'S very own, Vice Provost for Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Dereck Rovaris.The AABHE strives to be the premier organization to drive leadership development, access and vital issues concerning Blacks in higher education. In pursuing this vision, AABHE seeks to collaborate with other ethnic groups and organizations that have similar interests.While appreciative of the opportunity to present her research findings of a qualitative study she did with women of color to learn more about their insights and perceptions of how women of color are viewed in the media and their resulting reactions to contemporary labels and identifiers, Dr. Robinson was most pleased about seeing LSU students, including two of her own mentees, PhD candidate, Dorothy Kemp (SLHRD) and doctoral student, Bettina Teegen (School of Social Work) present their work at the conference.The School of Leadership is proud to highlight Dr. Robinson's diverse scholarship and her mentorship of students in our department and across the campus.
- Susan Karimiha Awarded FellowshipSusan Karimiha, Ph.D. Candidate and Research Assistant in the LSU School of Leadership and Human Resource Development has been awarded a competitive fellowship through the Association of International Agriculture and Rural Development.The Association's objectives of this fellowship program is to facilitate student attendance and participation in the annual conference, which is held annually in Washington D.C. Another objective includes broadening student vision and help build a broad array of social/cultural, economic, and scientific skills required to become an effective 21st century professional in international agriculture and rural development. Additionally, another objective is networking by providing opportunities for students to meet with influential individuals in universities, non-governmental organizations (NGO's), Congress, governmental agencies, international financial institutions and multi-national corporations active in international agriculture and rural development initiatives.Her participation in the Fellowship's Future Leaders Forum includes two days of visits to agencies, companies, and organizations (i.e. USAID, USDA-FAS & NIFA, World Bank, Peace Corps, UN/FAO, Chemonics, Dupont/Pioneer International, Millennium Challenge Corporation) engaged in international agriculture and rural development.Susan is PhD candidate and holds a Graduate Research Assistantship under faculty member, Dr. Sunyoung Park. Susan's goal is to use her research findings to improve poverty throughout the world, through more effective human resource development research and training to help develop sustainable solutions to peace, global resource security and economic development for future generations. She was previously awarded a Fellowship through the LSU Office of Research and Economic Development and the European Union's ERASMUS program at the University Grenoble Alps in Grenoble, France.
- Ashley Gray Selected as 2018 Advisor of the YearAshley Gray was recently named LSU Advisor of the Year by the LSU University College. The award winner was selected by a committee of LSU students, faculty and staff and community leaders from a competitive pool of LSU academic counselors from across campus. LSU Advisor of the Year Award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students.
- Dr. Sunyoung Park Presents Research at the 2018 AERA ConferenceDr. Sunyoung Park, Assistant Professor in the School of Leadership and Human Resource Development, returned from presenting research at the 2018 American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference in New York City. Her presentation, "Workplace Learning Measures for HRD: Review and Summary" was about reviewing the existing workplace learning measures used in empirical studies in human resource development (HRD). Dr. Park also serves as chair for the roundtable session of the Korean AERA. The AERA is concerned with improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and evaluation and by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results. With its nearly 25,000 members, comprised of faculty, researchers, graduate students, and other distinguished professionals, they produce and disseminate knowledge, refine methods and measures, and stimulate translation and practical application of research results. Dr. Park's research centers on organizational culture and behavior, learning and performance in different contexts, leadership, and research trends in human resource development (HRD) and related fields. Her primary research purpose is to provide practical guidelines for enhancing a positive organizational culture, supporting employee development, and resolving performance issues in organizations.
