McCain Named Spring 2024 McLaughlin Medalist
May 27, 2024
BATON ROUGE, LA – The College of Engineering named its McLaughlin Award medalist during the Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony, and the recipient for this semester was Joshua McCain, a computer science major with a minor in mathematics from Houma, La.
He is the son of John and Michelle McCain and previously attended Vandebilt Catholic High School.
During his career at LSU, McCain worked with the LSU Cybersecurity Clinic, helping small businesses improve their cybersecurity. After graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s in cybersecurity, focusing on memory forensics.
“Going forward, I will always look back and deeply appreciate the people who helped me realize that I love all things learning, no matter the subject,” McCain said. “Whether it be teachers like Dr. Golden Richard, who helped spark my curiosity in understanding the world through expert teaching or friends who needed my help in studying, everyone here at LSU has guided my focus towards academics. A special thanks goes to my parents who have always been encouraging in my academic journey. Everyone has helped me see that no matter what field I go into in the future, I will always love to learn it and teach it to others.”
